Integrations

Jira Cloud supports a wide range of integrations with third-party applications to enhance productivity and foster collaboration. These integrations enable teams to seamlessly connect Jira with other tools, streamline workflows, and centralize information.

In addition to the Atlassian Marketplace, Atlassian facilitates integrations through API Connectivity, which utilizes REST APIs to securely connect with external tools and enable interaction with the core functionality of their products, such as creating issues, retrieving project data, or automating specific actions.

The authentication process ensures that integrations and third-party applications only access authorized data, with access granted through the generation of Tokens.

Tokens are secure, personal access tools that allow external applications to make API calls without requiring users to disclose their passwords or account access directly. They can be scoped to specific applications and revoked at any time. Moreover, they are easy to manage and, besides being password-free, adhere to security best practices when integrating with other systems.

When a user generates a token on Atlassian or an Atlassian-based system, they create a personal sequence of letters and numbers that can only be accessed by users at the moment of its creation and by authorized applications when utilized.

This prevents unauthorized users from gaining access to tokens generated by others and ensures that only authorized systems can use them.
